The Tenleytown Robeks will be hosting a fundraiser tomorrow, April 8th, from 8am to 8pm. This fundraiser is the brain child of American University’s Alpha Phi Omega (APO) pledge class. When you go to Robeks tomorrow, tell them that you’re with the APO fundraiser. So, 20% of the proceeds go to the Good Friends USA. “Good Friends is an International NGO for Peace, Human Rights and Refugees,” that has offices in Washington, D.C., Seoul, and Maryland. According to their website, Good Friends has three main goals:
1.) Collecting information on severe food, health, education, transportation, agriculture, clothes, and living conditions and providing support for other humanitarian aids organization
2.) Investigating and studying the current situation of refugees in China and providing protection and aid for the refugees and their children in China
3.) Assessing the human rights violation of the arrestment, punishment, and detention of North Koreans and stimulating the North Korean government to improve the conditions of the civilians.
There is also additional information in the Facebook group titled “BEST EVER Robeks Fundraiser!!!”
Next Wednesday, April 15th, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, there will be another fundraiser at ZBurger, in Tenleytown, supporting the same cause. Maybe I’ll see you tomorrow at Robeks, and don’t forget to say that you’re with the APO fundraiser!
