Got books?
If not, head out to your local bookstore because today is National Bookstore Day. Created by Publisher's Weekly, Saturday, November 7, is the first annual day of the kind. It's purpose? To stimulate in-person visits to retail bookstores. Publisher's Weekly has worked to provide publicity and materials for bookstores interested in getting on board.
Over 140 bookstores nationwide are participating in the event. You can find a list of some of the participating bookstores here in this Publisher's Weekly article. Maybe there is one near you? But what the heck, even if there is not a participating bookstore near you, why not take a couple of hours today to swing by your favorite neighborhood bookstore, be it independent or a chain, and peruse a few new titles. If you're like me, you might even have a list of books you've been waiting to buy.
What? You haven't visited your local bookstore in a while? Well. No time like the present, right? And there is still plenty of time left in the day.
So I dare you. Go on. Go buy a book today in honor of National Bookstore Day. You've got nothing to lose and wonderful stories to gain.
