Now that July 4th has come and gone, we’ll have to find new reasons to celebrate our independence this summer.  With Bastille Day (i.e. French Independence Day) around the corner on July 14th, why not throw back on our red, white and blue best and head to Echo Park to celebrate with the Frogs?

This Sunday, July 12th, 12pm to 10pm, join fellow Angelenos and Francophiles for the 8th Annual Bastille Day LA Festival in Elysian Park, Monticello Old Lodge (right next to Dodger’s Stadium on the corner of Stadium Way and Scott Avenue.)  Eat French food, drink French wine, watch live French entertainment, French kiss your sweetie and enter to win tickets to Paris and Tahiti.

The official website lists the following entertainment to French-tickle your fancy:

Provencal Petanque Tournament under the pine trees
Parisian Waiters Race
Street performers
Comedians, singers, artists
French Market vendors and Sidewalk cafes
Fun prizes for all races
Fabulous raffles (including that trip to Paris!)
Famous French food, wines and gastronomic delights

Best of all, the entrance fee is a mere $5 and free for kids (cash only or use credit ahead of time online).  Free parking is also available on the streets surrounding Elysian Park, Monticello Old Lodge, or you can park at Dodgers Stadium in Lot 13 and hop a free shuttle to the Lodge.  Word to the wise before you go – don’t ask for French fries: the French will not be amused.
