Join Moonshine along with other local chefs for the first-ever chili cook-off and tailgate party on Sunday, November 22nd from 3pm to 7pm in the Moonshine parking lot (1824 W Division). In the tradition of Moonshine’s uber-successful “Rib-a-Que and Smokeout,” the 1st Annual “Warm Up & Bear Down Chili Cook-Off” will feature 16 contestants, both pro and amateurs, who will compete for the Gilded Ladle and some serious coin. The victor will walk away with $1,000 cash money.
In anticipation of the Chicago Bears vs. Philidelphia Eagles football game, Moonshine will transform their parking lot into the tailgating party of the year. This outdoor bash will feature live music, zealous fans, and 16 of the best local chilis, including two Moonshine originals- “Rojo’s Red Chili” and “New Mexico Green Chile Chili!”
To help put out the fire, Moonshine resident brew master Reverend Bob will be serving up the best handcrafted brews you’ve ever tasted such as The Truth (India Pale Ale), Chubby (Wicker Park Pale Ale) or Dizzy (Blonde Ale). Tailgating leads right up to the opening kickoff of the Bears game that day at 7:20pm…with the winners being announced during half-time.
And to prove they are all heart and not just heartburn, the Moonshine Good Guys will be partnering with 1st Ward Alderman, Manny Flores to host the “Coats for Needy Families” Coat Drive. A warm coat donation OR $10 grants tailgaters access to the party and opportunity to eat all the chili one can handle.
In addition to the $1,000 grand prize, the runner-up will collect $300 and $200 will go to the 3rd place finisher. Judged by the people, not celebrity judges, contestants are encouraged to invite their friends to offer friendly weighting to the audience vote.
