XXX Chicken Wings

Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap is hosting their first-ever “Battle of the Bhut,” a wing eating contest featuring their signature XXX Wings, on Thursday, November 5 at 6 p.m. Heat fiends will compete to see who can eat the most XXX Wings, made with the world’s hottest pepper. Jake Melnick’s will also offer specials on wings and $2 Miller Lite drafts for guests that come to cheer on the challengers.
 

The XXX Wings are made with the Red Savina pepper and the Bhut (pronounced “boot”) Jolokia pepper, which currently holds the title of hottest chili pepper in the Guinness Book of World Records. The Bhut Jolokia rates around 1.5 million on the Scoville scale, the scientific scale that measures pepper pungency, which makes it more than 100 times hotter than a jalapeno.

Bill Kurtis, the legendary Chicago newsman and fan of Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap, will emcee the Battle of the Bhut, providing play-by-play during the heat-filled contest. To help douse the heat, Chicago Firefighters will also be on hand. Jake Melnick’s will donate a portion of proceeds to the “Fill the Boot” Program, benefiting the Chicago Fire Department Widows and Orphans Fund.

The Battle of the Bhut winner will take home four (4) all-inclusive theatre box tickets to the United Center for a Bulls or Blackhawks game and a free private party for 15 at Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap. Their name will also be engraved on the XXX “I Beat the Heat” contest trophy, garnering them a year’s supply of wings at Jake Melnick’s.
