Peanut allergies, dairy allergies, diabetes, epilepsy? Is your child going to summer camp with counselors who may not be familiar your child's specific medical needs? One of my students, Jordyn, came to Mommy & Me wearing this great allergy bracelet (see photo to the right). Jordyn is turning two and not able to communicate her severe dairy allergies to other people. This bracelet is a fantastic reminder to the other parents to be extra careful about foods and beverages served around Jordyn - just picking up something from the floor can cause Jordyn to go into distress.
Jordyn's bracelet can be found at Medicalidstore.com along with many other great ID items like sports bands, dog tag necklaces, and a neon pink medical ID watch. They also carry temporary tattoo kits that are great for summer traveling.
For older kids and young adults, my favorite epilepsy advocate and spokesperson, Heather Good, recommends Laurenshope.com. Lauren's Hope is an inspiring website that combines safety with style in the belief that "no one should be embarrassed by their medical identification bracelet." The site does carry fashionable products for men too. Here's the link for summer camp products from Lauren's Hope.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy summer! And here's a short video with few more tips for sending kids off to summer camp.
