Seders can be long events for active children. Stephanie Englander, parent and educator from B'nai Torah Congrgation of Boca Raton Florida, shared this idea for keeping children focused on the Seder experience by giving them bingo cards to check as each part of the Seder is completed. See one of her bingo cards to the left.
Stephanie used Teach-nology to make the bingo game. It's fast and easy and can be used for other bingo games as well.
The game is simple. Make the bingo cards in advance and laminate to use again next year. Buy stickers or use bingo markers to mark each Seder experience as it happens. Here's a few words and phrases from Stephanie's list: tasted charoset, saw the burning bush, said the ManNishTaNah, drank kiddush #1, #2, #3, and #4, broke the middle matzah, sang Dayenu, Pharaoh said "no", tasted bitter herb, washed hands, opened the door for Elijah. The children in your family can also help make up the list for the bingo cards.
This is a fun, hands-on way to keep children's attention throughout the Seder. Give everyone their own bingo card to fill during the seder. Be sure to have prizes for everyone as they finish their card.
