Toddlers and two year olds love to count.  Even better, they love to look at pictures of themselves.  Here's an idea for a "My Body Counting Book" using pictures of your child to count parts of her body - eyes, nose, arms, legs, fingers, toes.  This book introduces number concepts while increasing body awareness and self perception.  And we know, toddlers and two's are forming very important ideas about self and identity!

Thanks to happy Laela and helpful mommy Laurie Broad of Boca Raton FL, we have these pictures to demonstrate how to make a counting book for your child.

Feel free to create a unique counting book of your own.  We chose the following pictures:

  • 1 head
  • 2 arms
  • 10 fingers
  • 2 legs
  • 10 toes
  • 1 body...that's ME!

But you might use eyes, belly buttons, teeth....anything your child can count including pets and other family members!
