The Oasis of the Seas, Royal Caribbean's brand-new megaship, hosted ABC's Good Morning America this morning for a live broadcast. GMA sent weather anchor Sam Champion and special correspondent Melissa Rycroft to the Oasis to take a look at her seven distinct neighborhoods.

Bits and pieces of the seven neighborhoods were on display for a national audience as Champion and Rycroft toured them one-by-one. The neighborhoods on the Oasis are: Central Park, Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, Pool & Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center, Entertainment Place and Youth Zone.

Some challenging bits were in store for Champion and Rycroft as they demonstrated some of the ship's more active areas. Both were on the Flowrider® surf simulators, which were tough to handle. They both also tried their hands at scaling one of the two rock climbing walls, in which Champion was crowned "champion" by being the only one to complete the task. Rycroft, meanwhile, got to take a zip line across the main Boardwalk on the Oasis, to the amazement of the on looking crowd. Rycroft also had her share of glory, participating in a short synchronized swimming exhibition with Olympic sync swimmers. Both ended the broadcast at the AquaTheater with Champion first taking his jumps on a trampoline on stage while high divers were demonstrating their art.

This was one of the most anticipated GMA broadcasts in a while, since the world's largest ship was involved. Your Charlotte Cruise Ship Examiner will be giving you the "flavor" of the Oasis for much of the next week with a series of articles about the ship that he saw for one night, including a private concert given onboard by Rihanna.

Stay tuned for this and more of the cruising experience. Until then, Bon Voyage!
