Do you know what you're doing on October 24th?
Join with the hundreds of thousands of people around the world participating in the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF CLIMATE ACTION on Saturday. Participate with Global Exchange, the Mobilization for Climate Justice, Energy Action and 350.org at events around the world. Find an event near you at 350.org.
350.org explains the focus is on the number 350--as in parts per million, the level scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere. To tackle climate change we need to move quickly, and we need to act in unison—and this year is crucial. In December, world leaders will meet in Copenhagen, Denmark to craft a new global treaty on cutting emissions. The problem is, the treaty currently on the table doesn't meet the severity of the climate crisis—it doesn't pass the 350 test.
In order to unite the public, media, and our political leaders behind the 350 goal, groups are harnessing the power of the internet to coordinate a planetary day of action on October 24, 2009. There will be actions at hundreds of iconic places around the world - from the Taj Mahal to the Great Barrier Reef to Fargo - and it will send a clear message to world leaders: the solutions to climate change must be equitable, grounded in science and meet the scale of the crisis.
If you are in the Fargo Moorhead area, you can participate in the Northern Plains Power Shift Summit. The summit runs from October 23rd to 25th and is packed with amazing speakers and events.
On Saturday, October 24th from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
