
Our astute Phoenix Restaurant Examiner Becky Armendariz tipped me off to an amazing martini this weekend from Lon’s at The Hermosa Inn in Paradise Valley – Chili Brule Martini.
This simple, beautiful drink has it all; its aromatic, flavorful and pleasant to look at. But it also packs a hidden treat: Heat. I love the point counter-point of hot and sweet, so when Becky told me about the Chili Brule Martini, I had to whip one together for myself. The recipe is below. Kudos to the good folks at Lon’s. CHILI BRULE MARTINI
Servings: 1 drink
Ingredients:
1/8 ounce brown sugar simple syrup
1 pinch red chili flakes
2 ounces Grand Marnier
1 ounce Courvoisier VS
1 ounce ginger ale
Juice of half a fresh squeezed lime
Preparation: Combine and muddle brown sugar syrup and red chili flakes. Add remaining ingredients and shake with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with an orange twist and a few chili flakes.
