Despite an energetic opening, the Fire fell flat in New England conceding two goals on set pieces.  Here's the reaction around the web:

  • ESPNChicago -- missed opportunities
  • Goal.com -- Sharlie Joseph awarded Player of the Week
  • MLSnet -- Just the facts recap
  • MLSnet game quotes -- Kenny Mansally thought the Fire were content with sitting back and counter attacking in the second half.
  • Fire Confidential -- The Fire played well, but the result is cause for concern in next week's return leg.
  • Boston Globe -- Revs recover with unlikely rally
  • The Sun Chronicle -- features this quote from Denis Hamlett, "If you go back and watch, our guy (striker) Kevin McBride gets the crap beat out of him. Shalrie goes up from and throws his weight around and gets away with it - the referee looks the other way."  Although I don't think Hamlett called his star striker Kevin.

And this John Thorrington Q&A with Logan Pause from the Tribune's Player's Only blog.

My review of the action is upcoming.  Don't forget to catch Denis Hamlett tonight on Fox Football Fone-in at 7 CT on FSC.  Get your tactical questions ready.
