Catherine Hardwicke wasn't the only one to see the script for 2008's Twilight, it seems.
MTV is reporting that Chris Columbus, director of Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets (and enthusiast for Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson and up-coming films Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part I, and Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part II), was passed the script for Twilight as well.
Says MTV,
Looking at the “Twilight” that could have been, MTV News has learned that two-time “Harry Potter” director Chris Columbus took a glance at the script at the beginning of the adaptation process.
“I guess I did read a script early on,” says the director, who most recently helmed “I Love You, Beth Cooper.” “But I was doing something else.”
While Columbus and Hardwicke don't have a lot in common in the way of style and background, they are both amply celebrated for their casting abilities.
Yet, would a Columbus-directed picture bring a different story? Would the casting have been different? Comment below with your thoughts!
