Star Trek takes over the "best in theaters" spot on the list.

Not sure which movie to see this week in theaters? Let me help you out. The following is a list of films playing in the majority of theaters around the nation, including the first summer-y blockbuster with a real shot at top 10 box office records and a disappointing mutant prequel that despite critical bashing people piled in theaters to see.

1.  Star Trek - See-it - This witty, sexy and violent film is truly the first Star Trek film for everyone. Even after 2 hours and 6 minutes, Trekkies and newbies alike will walk out wanting more - which inevitably will come in a few years time.

2.  State of Play - See-it - Finally replaced as the best film in theaters, this film has an astounding cast performing at the peak of their careers to deliver a story so powerful and intriguing that, despite this hype, you will not expect.

3.  Earth - See-it - If you liked Planet Earth (and who didn't) you will love seeing this feature-length film on the big screen.

4.  Summer Hours - See-it if you can - A quit and reserved French film that may bore some, while completely engaging others.

5.  X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Rent-it - Either to see the hype, witness Hugh Jackman jacked up, or if you're a huge X-Men fanboy. Otherwise, I'm sorry to say but it's probably worth skipping.

6.  The Soloist - Rent-it - This film starring two Hollywood heavy hitters fails to knock it out of the park, but will leave its mark on your heart.

7.  Audience of One - Rent-it - A documentary that follows an obsessive pastor on his "mission from God" to produce a $50-million biblical sci-fi film.

8.  17 Again - Rent-it - The story has been done a hundred times before but never this well, and never this funny.

9.  Obsessed - Rent-it - The poor acting, pretty ladies drove box office numbers and is the only reason you should be tempted to watch.

10.  Battle for Terra - Skip-it - Even at 85 minutes long this sci-fi 3-D animated alien-invasion film not worth your time.

11.  Fighting - Skip-it - Unless you are an actual MMA fighter you will be gravely disappointed.

12.  Next Day Air - Skip-it - A mindless violent comedy that sets the bar low and fails to reach it.

13.  Powder Blue - Skip-it - A cast including a finally nude Jessica Biel, academy-award winner Forest Whitaker, and man's man Ray Liotta seems like something worth seeing but I promise you it is not.

14.  Ghosts of Girlfriends Past - Skip-it - An all-too-typical Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner unfunny, rarely cute romantic comedy.

15.  Love & Dancing - Skip-it - There have been some terrible "dancing" movies since Dirty Dancing and Footloose, but this tops the list of worsts.
