Tom Cruise can't hold his supporting cast's eyepatch.

Not sure which DVD to pull off the new release shelf? Need a new Blu-ray to show off in 1080p? Or maybe you're looking through the new releases on Netflix and don't know what to add to your queue?

This week you'll find some highly-advertised DVDs on the shelves along with some uber-marketed big-budget Winter-released films -- but don't forget about some of these better but not widely popular TV shows new to DVD as well :

My Bloody Valentine 3D - Buy-it - A gory three-dimensional assault on your eyes with thrills and kills that will leave you watching out from under your 3-D glasses.

Valkyrie - Rent-it - Not because of Tom Cruise, but instead for the outstanding supporting cast of English-speaking Nazis and Germans.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop - Rent-it - Not a comedy for everyone but filled with laughable moments from usually hysterical Kevin James.

24: Redemption - Rent-it - If you are a fan of the early seasons of 24 and want to see Jack Bauer in a feature-length film.

True Blood - The Complete First Season - Rent-it - Hey Twilight fans! The second season of this blood-sucking drama is starting soon on HBO and you won't want to miss another season -- so get caught up now.

Yonkers Joe - Rent-it - Not the best con film in recent years but definitely one awkward drama worth renting.

Friday Night Lights: The Third Season - Rent-it - Likely the most unwatched critically acclaimed show on television today -- get started now on DVD and you'll be itching for new episodes next fall.

Fanboys - Skip-it - Unless you are one of the over-zealot Star Wars fanboys yourself.

Movies re-released on Blu-ray format this week:

Batman - Buy-it - Tim Burton's Batman starring Michael Keaton as the best Bruce Wayne in Batman history, a terrifyingly hilarious Jack Nicholson as the Joker, and a sexy Kim Basinger first lady.

Man Who Shot Liberty Valance - Rent-it - A classic John Ford, John Wayne and James Stewart western

Spy Game - Rent-it - One of the best and most underrated Brad Pitt films of all time (with the exception of Snatch).

A Bug's Life - Skip-it - Though animated Pixar films are usually a treat to watch in 1080p, this is one of the few you can skip.
