Chocolate-covered bacon strips?
Though it sounds like the beginning of an Alka-Seltzer commercial, it's the fare at the fair.
You can go from casual, to gourmet meal at the Turf Club.
The food at the San Diego County Fair can be quite rich, in caloric content as well as cost. A few tips for saving a buck follow:
Tuesday's are $2 "Taste of the Fair" days. Each Tuesday, you can buy a taster's portion of a featured food item for $2 at each food booth.
Friday is PennySaver Value Day. Everyone receives a booklet with discounts at more than 60 food and product vendors.
Be on the lookout for "Kids' Meal Deal" signs at participating food vendors. The $5.99 price tag includes entrée, side and drink.
And ooh, "bonus!" A "Child Hopper" admission to LEGOLAND and the Sea-Life Aquarium. Restrictions apply.
