The Bulls only had two picks in yesterdays NBA Draft and picked up two player's that will add depth to the front court, selecting Wake Forest sophomore James Johnson and USC junior Taj Gibson.
Johnson, a 6-8, 257lb small forward who will get some time at power forward, averaged 15 ppg, 8.5 rpg and 1.5 bpg.
The biggest question marks on Johnson is his consistency, but no one can question his offensive game. One that features a combination of strength, athleticism. He can face the basket, is comfortable putting the ball on the floor, shooting the three ball and has a very refined post game.
Johnson gives the Bulls athleticism at the wing, they haven't had since Scottie Pippen. His 7-1 wing span, should also help him defensively. He also doesn't mind throwing his body around and can finish while taking contact. I can also see some instances, where he is used to play some point-forward
With rumors of Tyrus Thomas being on the trading block and Luol Deng's health becoming a bigger issue, Johnson is a terrific pick at 16.

Gibson, is a 6-10, 220 lb power forward who is a true back to the basket player. He averaged 14.3 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 2.9 bpg, while shooting .601 percent from the field.
Gibson will need to add a little more bulk to a frail frame and with his athletic ability, he should be able to face the basket and take advantage of slower defenders. He can hit the mid-range jump shot and will be used is some pick and roll situations with Derrick Rose. He also is comfortable shooting jump hooks with either hands.
Gibson is a very consistent player and you know what you're going to get and at 26, he was a great pickup.
Most Bulls fans may not know much about Johnson and Gibson and might have even questioned the picks, but once the season starts and everyone gets to see the two in action, they'll fall in love with both.
The Bulls went into this draft looking for scoring in the low post and defensive help and they got both.
I give the Bulls an A for both picks.
