When asked before Wednesday's 102-98 road win against the Toronto Raptors how he'd manage it with Kirk Hinrich and Larry Hughes coming off the bench, coach Vinny Del Negro said;
"I'll just figure it out as we go. Kirk [Hinrich] will be out there. He takes pressure off of Derrick [Rose]. We need him out there with the defensive pressure he can put on the ball. He's a captain and I expect good leadership from him, which we always get."
Sometimes you can talk yourself right out of any playing time at all and Hughes has manage to do that. After playing 7 minutes against the Trailblazers, Hughes didn't see the floor at all against the Raptors and doesn't look like he'll be getting anymore playing time until he is traded.
After watching Rose score 17 in the fourth yesterday, it just made the outlook for this team more brighter knowing we have two closers in him and Ben Gordon. I believe the defense will come along as someone steps up and leads by example or takes charge.
This Hughes situation will bring this team together in my opinion, because even with a crowded back court still, you no longer have anyone whining publicly about minutes and that does loads for the morale factor.
Today, I woke up excited that I did have a 100 level seat to tonights game against the Cavaliers (30-7).
Around 2pm, I realized that the ticket had somehow escaped me and my spirits hit a real low.
To have to work outside today in almost -40 degree weather on top of that made things, well COLD.
Watching the game on streaming video didn't do me any justice, but after losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder and now beating one of the best teams in the league, the Bulls (18-22) are still somewhat of an enigma.
They have the talent and fire power to beat almost anyone in this league, but there is just something that is stopping them from consistenly playing at the high level they showed in tonights 102-93 win.
Whatever that "something" is, I'm sure Paxson is hard at work trying to find it
