Joakim Noah notched a career-high 21 points, to go along with 16 boards and 4 blocks as the Bulls (4-2) overcame a slow start to beat the visiting Charlotte Bobcats (3-3) 93-90 on Saturday night.

"It feels good," Noah said. "It feels good to get the W. It wasn't pretty, but we did what we had to do."

It wasn't that the Bulls were terrible during the start of the first quarter, but they weren't exactly good, outside of John Salmons 14 points in the first period.

The Bulls were out-hustled to some loose balls that allowed the Bobcats to get second-chance opportunities. Boris Diaw (20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists) was an absolute nightmare in the first quarter, going for 14 points of his own, connecting on two three-pointers and blowing past either Noah, or Taj Gibson (6 points in 19 minutes) whenever he wanted to.

Even with the problems Charlotte was causing the Bulls, they were only down 28-26 after one and 53-46 after the half.

Just like the previous home game against the Milwaukee Bucks, the Bulls returned and simply out-hustled and out-played the Bobcats.

It came down to making shots and getting stops and fortunately for the Bulls, they clicked at the right time to make a 16-0 run in the third, going into the fourth and they would never look back. The Bobcats would get it back close, but the Bulls were able to close it out at the line.

Salmons finished with 26 points, 6 assists and 7 rebounds and with only missing 1 minute of playing time, Luol Deng totaled 14 points and 11 boards.

With only 10 healthy players now in the rotation, it is essential the Bulls avoid these slow starts, especially with 8 of their next 10 being on the world, as the annual "Circus Trip" is right around the corner.

GAME NOTES

Tyrus Thomas had surgery Saturday to repair a broken left forearm he suffered in a weight session on Friday. Vinny Del Negro said the operation went well and Thomas will be re-evaluated on Tuesday. He is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Rookie James Johnson played 5 minutes and went scoreless only attempting one shot.

Former Bull, Tyson Chandler was booed everytime he touched the ball or entered the game. He scored 13 points and pulled down 7 boards in 28 minutes.

I was surprised that a Larry Brown coached team was so bad at clock management, especially at the end of the game. There were multiple positions where Raymond Felton dribbled almost twenty seconds of the shot clock, before being forced to take a desperation jumper and this came while they were down.
