The Bulls (3-2) were hoping to avoid a slow start to this season and to keep all of their starters healthy. You can scratch the latter of as Tyrus Thomas will be out 4-6 weeks after suffering a fractured radius of his left forearm during a weight training session this morning at practice.
Thomas had just returned back to the lineup Thursday night after missing the previous two games with the flu. He contributed 6 points on 3-6 shooting in 12 minutes. He is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning.
For Thomas, it's a setback, especially because he'll be a restricted free agent after this season after the Bulls couldn't come to terms with an extension.
A lot of fans and media are hard on Thomas, but people around the organization are always quick to point out how hard he's worked during this summer and he is always one of the first on the floor, pregame, getting shots up and trying to get into a rhythm.
For the Bulls, they lose the energy and athleticism Tyrus' brings, but it means rookie James Johnson will be given some minutes to play his way into the rotation after only playing 11 minutes in a blowout loss to the Boston Celtics.
The Bulls will host the Charlotte Bobcats (2-2) tomorrow.
