If one thing can be taken away from the Bulls (4-1) preseason record, it's the fact that the frontcourt might not be as in bad of shape as many have complain about.
True, there is no 20 and 10 guy manning the low-post, but there is depth there now.
That depth could be seen last night as the Bulls beat the Timberwolves, Wednesday night on the road 99-94.
It was that frontcourt, led by Chris Richards (17 points, 13 rebounds, 2 blocks) that helped the team lead by as much as 16 at one point in the game.
No one has made a big issue about the team being without Derrick Rose and Tyrus Thomas since the first preseason game, but they sure would like to see them back on the floor.
"We need Tyrus and Derrick back," said Luol Deng, who scored 14 points. "We've got to get better. We're not going to know what kind of a team we have until about a month into the season. Definitely with those two guys back, we're a lot better of a team."
It was a good win for the Bulls, since it was a back-to-back and away from home, where they finished 13-28 last season.
Joakim Noah had 14 points and 7 rebounds, rookie James Johnson finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds and John Salmons chipped in 16 points, including one nasty baseline reverse jam in the closing minutes of the third quarter.
The Wolves were led by Jonny Flynn and Ramon Sessions, who each totaled 13 points in 24 minutes of play.
Thomas is expected to practice today and maybe available to play in Friday's game against the Wolves. Brad Miller didn't make the trip because of illness.
