Finally – something that’s long overdue.
Tons of people love the great outdoors, but may no longer be able to physically get out and enjoy it up close.
A brilliant solution was found when the City of Orange Beach, the Gulf State Park and private property owners collaborated on the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail project. The city had over 6,000 acres and 8 miles of unused paved trails that wound through back country. Lands teeming with wildlife. Now they’ve implemented a special tour of the property – by golf cart!
The large vehicle accommodates five visitors and one friendly driver that narrates the eco-tour. As news of this unique adventure spread, its popularity soared. The elderly and disabled can now get to places that were before impossible for them to go.
Bikers, dog walkers and runners are frequently seen. Wooden benches and swings are scattered throughout the property for a restful respite. Restrooms and water fountains appear here and there.
Plenty of viewing opportunities abound to spot deer, hogs, raccoons, alligators, butterflies and birds of all kinds.
For decades, a creature believed to be part man, part wildcat – ‘The Catman’ has allegedly lurked along the paths and swamps of these backcountry woodlands.
The two-hour tours are $15 per person, or $60 per cart. Definitely bring a camera, as the photo opportunities are endless. This tour promises an experience you’ll never forget!
Be sure to see the below slideshow for more photos of the golf cart tour.
