Never had I seen someone dying of a bullet wound, and I had the opportunity to view a young girl die of a bullet wound right in front of her father, who seemed to be calling or name or may be not to go away so easily, thanks to CNN. All the news channels have Iran as the primary topic, and the whole world is watching closely on what is going on in the Islamic Republic for some days now.
The video that CNN showed yesterday was graphic, and they had warned about it, and I watched it, and I had no reaction to the gross video of a girl dying right in front of so many people, and I was simply spellbound, my eyes transfixed upon the TV screen, and I felt extremely sorry for her and her family. I cannot even imagine what her father might have gone through after her demise.
Neda has been a household name now. We see her name on the placards that people demonstrating against the current regime hold, and now she is immortal, at least to the people in Iran. Her parents may not have dreamt in their wildest dreams about their beloved daughter to have been killed in such a tender age. However, we cannot turn the truth. Her death may be a "divine calling." Yes, this is what her name means in Persian. Some say, everything is written, our lives, and our destiny. People believe in Karma. Some people oppose it. However, if we look at her case, and the untimely death of several others, we may say that there are certain things that are written; when there is the "divine call" we cannot stop it from happening. From the protest that we see in Iran and their support throughout the world, it might be a "divine call" for a complete change in the political system in Iran, and Neda might be immortal as the "face" of the "call."
