Even though The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull might be one of the 10 major film-crimes against my youth, (other film-crimes? the Texas Chainsaw remake and Attack of the Clones...) I'm still sort of half hoping that if given a make-up call, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas could actually deliver a decent Dr. Jones film. Either that or sink the legend into an unholy afterlife for the rest of eternity. Shia Lebeouf let the cat out of the bag last Monday that a new Jones flick was in development. Today Frank Marshall (Jones producer) pretty much confirmed it. Frank had this to say about the new flick:
"It's really about the script. Once we see that, we'll see. We're not going to wait another 20 years. We'd all love to make another one. I'm anxious to hear the idea!"
After the prairie dog commune, swinging monkey-boy, and alien invasion ideas of the last film Frank - believe me, we're just as anxious to see what the next film is about. No word yet as to when the screenplay writing will finally kick off, or even an estimated release date for the movie. Until then please enjoy this South Park clip that really touches exactly what we, as serious fans of Indiana Jones, felt about the last movie and its dubious creators.
What do you guys think? Should Jones toss in the hat, or give it one more shot and try and get it right this time?
