Two spy/assassins enter....
One spy/assassin leaves...
So who's your favorite master of espionage today? Six years ago anyone would have said Mr. Bond - no contest. But Bourne for lack of a better term, was born theatrically. Pretty much single-handedly killing the Brosnan Bond films for good.
007 fans were willing to admit that that the time had come for a new actor to take over the role of their favorite hero. Others know that Jason Bourne, in his first movie, pretty much changed the genre for good. Gimmicks and snappy one-liners went out of fashion. Kicking ass set up shop. Enter Daniel Craig - Double-O Pitbull. Suddenly Bond was swinging again.
This weekend James Bond kicks off his 22nd film adventure with Quantum of Solace. Jason Bourne's only got three films under his belt, but I'd ask you to take some leniency on the man. There hasn't been a bad film in the lot. Bourne's 3-0 in his first film run. Bond has had many, many missteps on his way to 22 movies. Need I remind you all of Tomorrow Never Dies? Plus Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon have another Ludlum Bourne novel headed for theaters in 2010... This rivalry has just yet begun..... So let's finish it early in Thunderdome. Ladies and gentlemen. Boys and girls. Dyin' times here...
Want to know how Thunderdome 1 came out? Sure you don't... Fargo beat out No Country for Old Men 15-10.
