Episode four, Running on E, begins with Ari calling E to tell him that production on Vince’s new film, “Ferrari,” has been pushed back 12 weeks. Moments later, Marlo Klein calls the Gold house and tells Mrs. Ari that Andrew is not home and he has never come home after midnight before. Mrs. Ari suspects Andrew is having an affair, but Ari tells her that Andrew is nothing but faithful.
The next day, the guys head out to eat and Vince discusses what they can do to stay busy for the next 12 weeks. Vince asks the waitress, Nikki, if she can spend the day with him, as Turtle is going back-to-school shopping with Jamie-Lynn, Drama has a kiss-casting session for Five Towns, and E is working.
At MGA, Ari confronts Andrew about where he was last night. Andrew tells Ari that he was with Lizzie, but he was ending his affair with her.
At The Murphy Group, E looks for anything to do to stay busy. Ashley calls him and they arrange a lunch meeting (with some afternoon delight after). Meanwhile, Drama arrives at his kiss-casting session and locks lips with some attractive girls, while Turtle is having a less-than-favorable shopping experience with Jamie-Lynn.
Back at MGA, Lloyd weighs himself in front of Ari and is proud to have dropped 6 lbs. Lizzie pops into Ari’s office to apologize for her affair with Andrew. Still speculative about Andrew and Lizzie, Ari tells Lloyd to keep an eye on Andrew. When Lloyd asks how, Ari tells him to pretend that Andrew is Zac Efron’s [genitalia].
In the meantime, while “test-driving” the lips of some of Hollywood’s finest, Drama complains about the lack of on-screen chemistry with the auditioning models. He tells the production crew that he will visit Edward Burns to tell him the news in-person.
The TV agents at MGA try to pitch David Schwimmer some new TV series for him to star in. He shoots down the first two ideas, but is intrigued by Lizzie and her vision for him. They arrange a lunch meeting together.
E expresses his concerns to Ashley about the direction of his own career (or lack thereof). He does not know if there is any purpose of keeping The Murphy Group afloat, due to the fact that he only manages one big-name actor.
Later in the day, an upset David Schwimmer calls Ari and tells him that Andrew (apparently not yet over Lizzie) crashed his lunch meeting with Lizzie. Lloyd informs Ari that Andrew is in the parking garage crying in his car. Andrew tells Ari that he is having a meltdown and he is not over Lizzie. Ari tells Andrew that is has to get himself together and put an end to the situation for good.
Drama tracks down Edward Burns and tells him that he wants to put out a casting call for a big name actress to guest star alongside him. Burns tells Drama that he is delusional and the episode shoots too soon anyway. Drama calls Turtle to have him ask Jamie-Lynn if she will appear in the guest role opposite him. Turtle, clearly uncomfortable, tells Drama that he cannot bring himself to do it. As Ari arrives home, Andrew calls to tell him that he has left Marlo.
Back at Vince’s house, Drama is thrilled to find out that Jamie-Lynn has agreed to do the guest role, after Turtle mustered up the bravado to ask her. E tells the guys that he decided to close up shop at The Murphy Group. Vince is excited that E is now available to relax with him on vacation for the next 12 weeks, but E says that he can’t ditch Ashley. The guys make fun of him and tackle him to the ground.
Personal Notes: Another feel-good episode, “The Murphy Group wasn’t much of a group anyway,” “Pretend that he is Zac Efron’s b*ll sa*k,” Ari in the doghouse, Vince on Facebook, Turtle’s new look…from street to neat.
