Turtle's New Ride

The third episode, One Car, Two Car, Red Car, Blue Car, starts out in E’s apartment with E waking up to find Ashley downstairs (after sleeping over). She is watching Charlie’s new pilot. She informs E that she hates Charlie’s character.

Back at Vince and Turtle’s place, Turtle receives a birthday call from his mom. She is concerned with his unimpressive appearance in People Magazine from the Gatsby premier, alongside Jamie-Lynn. Turtle becomes dejected and realizes that he is almost 30-years-old and has not made anything of himself to be proud of. Vince temporarily cheers him up by bringing the guys to the racetrack to test drive four brand new Ferraris, in preparation for Vince’s next role as Enzo Ferrari. After driving the cars, Vince surprises Turtle by buying him one of the sizzling hot Ferrari’s as a birthday gift.

E arrives at MGA and is greeted formally by Lloyd (one of the new conditions that Ari bestows upon him). While talking with Ari, E receives a call from studio representative Amy Miller and is told that while the show received great ratings, Charlie’s ratings were abysmal. As a result, his character is going to be recast.

Meanwhile, Turtle calls his cousin Ronnie (Louis Lombardi aka 24’s Edgar Styles) to join him in a joint business venture, “Lim-Hos,” where outrageously attract girls are chosen to drive limos. Unfortunately, Ronnie does not have the necessary funds. Adding to Turtle’s bad day, 50 Cent pulls up alongside Turtle only to insult him (“Yo Turtle, I see you’re driving your daddy’s car…at least you look good”).

Later, Turtle is relaxing at home with Vince and Drama. Jamie-Lynn comes over to give Turtle his birthday present…another brand new car. Confused as to why everyone thinks he is a loser, [Mr.] Turtle (side note---Lloyd his hilarious) heads to MGA to consult Ari for advice on starting his own business. Ari tells Turtle to come back when he can prove that he has properly prepared for Ari’s investor friends to invest in Turtle’s new business.

E comes home to find that Ashley has not left his apartment. They watch Charlie’s pilot together (after apparent extracurricular activities) to determine why Charlie is not well-liked. E and Ashley conclude that Charlie simply “sucks.” E calls Ari to ask for guidance regarding Charlie’s situation. Ari recommends that he make a “scene of biblical proportions,” and if that doesn’t work, claim that it is a race issue.

Taking Ari’s advice, E forcefully storms into Amy Miller’s office and defends Charlie. His appeal is wildly entertaining, but ultimately unsuccessful. E calls Ari to let him know that he took his advice. Ari laughs at him for his attempt, but tells him that he gained some good lying experience and he is proud of him for his ambitious effort.

Later at night, Turtle, E, Drama, Vince, and Jamie-Lynn are at a bar. Turtle informs the guys that he is going back to school to take business classes at the UCLA extension program. As his birthday present to Turtle, Drama offers to pay for his tuition. E meets up with the gang and tells them that Charlie is off the show. Consequently, E informs Vince that they cannot possibly continue on as the show’s producers, without Charlie. Vince agrees and the gang enjoys the rest of the night celebrating Turtle’s birthday.

Personal Notes: Hot cars, Turtle is finally growing up, need more Drama one-liners, Ari and E---mentor and protege? To quote Randy Jackson, this episode was "just aight for me."
