The second episode, entitled Amongst Friends, starts out with Sloan and the guys moving E into his new place, while Turtle contemplates how a guy like Seth Rogen can get with a girl like Katherine Heigl in Knocked Up (“His ugliness is oddly fascinating, especially in blue ray”). E invites Sloan to Vince’s Gatsby premier as a friend. She is hesitant at first, but ultimately decides to go with him.

At the Miller Gold Agency (MGA), Lloyd conveys to Andrew Klein that he is only eating one grape an hour for the last two days and has lost 16 ounces (the equivalent of one pound). Andrew informs Ari that his wife, Marlo, is a little intimidated with meeting Mrs. Ari and is afraid that they will not get along. Ari tells Andrew that the wives will be fine together and he has nothing to worry about. He arranges a manicure/pedicure for Marlo Klein and Mrs. Ari to meet and greet.

The guys head to the clothing store to pick up their suits for the premier. Drama finds out that he is the only one who will be attending the premier without a date. E is bringing Sloane, Turtle is taking Jamie-Lynn, and Vince is going with one of his many girls-on-rotation). Seeing as how he might be the seventh-wheel, Drama invites Kelly, one of the employees at the clothing store.

Back at E’s house, Ashley, an attractive, 20-something neighbor, brings E a housewarming gift and asks the guys to look for her lost bracelet in E’s new place. She seems very interested in him and hints that she would like to go to the Gatsby premier with him. However, E already invited Sloan, making for an awkward conversation with Ashley.

Mrs. Ari and Marlo Klein hit it off well with each other, at which point Ari informs Lloyd that he only has to lose 10 lbs. As a result, Lloyd starts shoving grapes down his throat.

At MGA, Ari meets with Andrew Klein and Lizzie Grant (a young, junior agent at MGA) to sign two new show runners to the agency. Ari notices Andrew’s not-so-subtle public displays of affection with Lizzie. However, Andrew claims that there is nothing going on. With skepticism, Ari tells him to get it together. Now clearly frustrated, Ari exclaims to Lloyd that he now has to lose 20 lbs.

The boys arrive via limo to the premier equipped with their respective dates. After the premier, Ari sees Andrew talking to someone on the phone and confronts him. He admits that he is indeed having an affair. Ari tells him to end it immediately, so as not risk everything that Ari has given him and to save both Andrew’s personal life and professional career.

Ashley ends up finding her way to the Gatsby premier and has another awkward and somewhat rude encounter with E, as Sloane is present. E confesses to Vince that he still has feelings for Sloan and Vince advises him to tell Sloan his true feelings. However, things do not necessarily work out for E the way he would have intended. E tells her that he does not think he can be “just friends.” She replies by telling him that for now, they will have to suspend their friendship.

At the end of the night, the guys and their dates (minus Sloan) are having an after-party at E’s new place. E gets a call from Ashley apologizing for the rude manner in which she acted toward him at the premier. While this is going on, Vince finds Ashley’s bracelet. E tells her that he found her bracelet and Ashley asks him if he can bring it over to her now. E tells her he will. Before pulling out of the driveway, he receives a text message from Sloan saying “Sorry.” E deletes the text message and pulls out of the driveway.

On a personal note, this episode seemed to have it all. Definitely, one of the top episodes of the past few seasons.
