Ari Gold

Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) is a Hollywood talent agent. Hailing from Chicago, Ari grew up in a Jewish family with either one brother and no sisters or two brothers and “a wh-re of a sister." He obtained a J.D./M.B.A. from the University of Michigan and is married to Mrs. Ari (first name unknown). They have one son and one daughter.

Ari’s personality can be characterized as arrogant, obnoxious, witty, and sometimes volatile, but he justifies his actions as a means of doing whatever it takes to make his clients happy. Due to the nature of the entertainment business, Ari does not trust many people other than his close friends and his assistant, Lloyd.

Ari is a name partner in the talent powerhouse, Miller Gold Agency, along with Barbara “Babs” Miller. He was formerly employed with Terrance McQuewick’s talent agency, until his employment was terminated. He immediately started his own boutique agency with five other agents, before partnering with Miller to launch the Miller Gold Agency. Some of his clients include real-life stars Mark Wahlberg, Eva Longoria, Larry David, Vin Diesel, M. Night Shyamalan, James Woods, and T.I.

Ari cares deeply for Vince Chase, as he helped develop Vince’s career after initially discovering him in a Mentos commercial. This is evident throughout, but perhaps never greater than when Vince and E fired Ari as a result of costing Vince the lead role in a biopic about the real-life band, The Ramones. Ari becomes deeply distraught over losing Vince and strives to do whatever he can to bring him back, as he marred his relationship as both his client and his friend. After presenting Vince with the chance to play his “dream role” of Pablo Escobar in the film, Medellin, Ari is rehired as Vince’s agent, much to his delight.

At one point, Ari is offered the studio head position with Warner Brothers. After going back and forth with the decision, he ultimately decided to remain a talent agent, thereby preserving his relations with his clients. The position is later offered to Ari’s close personal friend and former girlfriend, Dana Gordon, as a result of Ari’s high recommendation of her.
