2009 Windermere Marathon (UK) - Race Results

Big marathon weekend coming up.

I count 18 marathons in the US and 10 overseas. Last year's finishers in these same marathons numbered well over 5,000. That's a lot of foot pounding.

It's also a lot of folk realizing their dreams, getting in shape, finishing courses, believing they can do big things, seeing difficult things in a different perspective. I remembered when I finished my first 100 miler. After that, for a long time, life was different. Folks would say, "Such and such is so hard to do." I'd think to myself, "Wouldn't be hard if you broke it down into smaller pieces, put your head down and not look up until you are done."

That's pretty much how it goes with the marathon. It's long, it's hard. But, it's doable to those who just stay the course, make up their minds they are going to finish.

How do you approach the marathon run?

Two BIG marathons have already been run this year - the Boston and London Marathons. Some 50,000+ folk covered 26.2 miles.

Two big marathons are coming up - 2009 City of Los Angeles Marathon (L.A. Marathon) and 2009 San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon. That's pretty much everybody in Southern California. Well,almost everyone.

Keep in mind, it takes a while for the results to update. Until they do, you can compare your time to last year's results.
