I just listened to the first half of a presentation by Jay Richards, at University of California, Davis as part of the Veritas Forum.

Listening and watching is free.

The Christian has a responsibility to be good stewards of the creation entrusted to us by God is foundational.

With regard to global warming, Richards gave clarification on what he thinks about global warming despite what wikipedia has to say.

Richards asks and answers four hard questions.

1. Is the Earth warming? It is, but perhaps not because of why most think so.

2. What is causing the Earth to warm? Correlation does not mean causation.

3. Is it a bad thing if the Earth is warming? What if the Earth was too cold for too long and now it is restablizing?

4. If it is not a bad thing for the Earth to be warming, would advice on policies change?

It is estimated that if all the countries in the world were to ratify the Kyoto Protocol by 2050 it could cost between $10-50 trillion and the result would be negligible - 0.07C drop in temps.

A Copenhagen group has estimated that water worldwide could be santized for $200 billion. Where might money be better spent?

What do you think the Christian perspective on the environment should be?
