The Transbay Joint Powers Authority (Transbay JPA) is holding a community meeting about the temporary terminal on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at the Port of San Francisco office at Pier 1 (north of the Ferry building) in the Bayside Conference Room.
Before the Transbay JPA can proceed with demolishing the existing Transbay Terminal structure to make way for a magnificent new, multi-modal terminal at 1st and Mission streets, a temporary terminal that provides the bus service must be constructed. This meeting will inform the community about the plans underway to build a temporary terminal and offer an opportunity for citizens to provide feedback on the Authority's plans to mitigate traffic impacts from the temporary terminal construction activity.
The temporary terminal will be located on the block of land that currently serves as parking, storage, and office space, bordered by Folsom, Beale, Howard, and Main streets in the quickly rising Rincon Hill neighborhood of San Francisco. The temporary terminal will serve AC Transit, WestCAT, MUNI, Golden Gate Transit, SamTrans, and Greyhound passengers from approximately August 2009 until the new Transbay Transit Center opens, tentatively in 2014.
