San Francisco based Terrapass Inc., a leading originator and retailer of carbon credits and carbon offsets has become the first carbon origination company to list a Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS) validated project located in the United States on the new APX VCS registry.

The APX VCS registry is a state-of-the art system enabling the issuance, transfer, tracking, retirement, reporting and custodial services for Voluntary Carbon Units (VCUs) worldwide.  Terrapass Inc.'s listing on the APX VCS registry is available to the public at the following URL: https://vcsregistry1.apx.com/myModule/rpt/myrpt.asp?r=111.

“We are very pleased to have achieved this milestone in the development of the US voluntary carbon market,” said Erin Craig, Vice President, TerraPass Carbon Management Services. “In just under a year we’ve built a carbon origination organization capable of working effectively with industry leaders like TÜV SÜD America and APX, and we look forward to further expansion of our carbon credit portfolio this coming year.”

The TerraPass Carbon Management Services team focuses on originating small scale, U.S.-based projects such as landfill and agricultural methane abatement efforts, and plans to expand into related methodologies. Credits from the portfolio will be used both to satisfy TerraPass’ retail carbon offset purchase obligations and to help companies in the voluntary and pre-compliance carbon markets achieve their carbon footprint management goals.
