On July 25th a Circle Players flash mob danced to "Fame" at Nashville Farmers Market to promote their 60th anniversary production: Fame the Muscial.

Circle Players’ production of Fame the Musical is a musical drama set in New York City's High School of Performing Arts, (known as "PA")  between 1980 to 1984— the last four years that school was open before it became Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.  Fame the Musical follows a group of students and teachers and their relationships through four years of High School.  The musical is loosely based on the 1980 film Fame and focuses on issues such as prejudice, identity, self-worth, literacy, sexuality, drug abuse, loss of life, and perseverance. The highs and lows are too much for some students, but their determination to find greatness shines through.

Fame the Musical was conceived and developed by David De Silva with a book by Jose Fernandez, music by Steve Margoshes, and lyrics by Jacques Levy.  The Nashville premiere of Fame the Musical is directed by Tim Larson, who is excited to bring this musical drama to local community theatre and will keep true to the author’s intent of an energizing, entertaining, and bittersweet story brought to the stage.

The show runs trhough August 9th at the Looby Center Theatre.
