The Washington Legislature is scrubbing the term "mental retardation" from state laws, and replacing it with "intellectual disability," reports the Associated Press. The House passed HB 1835 unanimously today, and it now goes to the Senate. Supporters say "mental retardation" is an outdated and offensive term.
