The rally inspired and WRC chassis Ford Focus is a great car to modify and a huge variety of performance parts is available to consumers. A WRC rally puts a vehicle to the most extreme tests of agility, performance, and reliability. The Ford Focus is an excellent icon of modern Ford technology. The vehicle can either be an economic family vehicle or a rally performance beast. The market for Ford Focus performance parts is vast due to WRC notoriety.

The Ford Focus was first introduced in 1999 as a 2000 model in North America. Quickly building a loyal customer base, the Ford Focus sold thousands of models almost instantly. This opened up the performance parts market for Ford Focus related applications. Today, almost ten years later you can find all types of performance parts imaginable for the Ford Focus.

Common Ford Focus modifications:

  • Fuel system
  • ECU tuning
  • Exhaust
  • Intake
  • Wheels
  • Suspension
  • Weight reduction

Over all, Ford makes a bullet proof motor. I have seen some crazy performance parts installed on a Ford engine and it still runs. Everything from air compressors to socks has been used on Ford Focus intakes. Ingenuity gets creative when it comes to squeezing out the last drop of power. If you want to use a turbo, make sure you upgrade for appropriate fueling. Running your car lean can do damage to the engine. Becareful when selecting performance parts!

It is rare a Ford engine blows, but it does happen. Appropriate choice of performance parts such as fuel system upgrades which consist of fuel injectors, fuel rails, fuel pressure regulators, fuel filters, and high pressure fuel pumps will extend the longevity of your Ford Focus and yield more power. Other performance parts such as upgrading fuel lines and adding a fuel pressure gauge to the system will help you prevent engine fires. When upgrading your car, it is wise to take every step possible to prevent fire from occurring.

The rally heritage of the Ford Focus suggests a strong chassis and potent 2.0 engine. The most common rally engine is the two liter four cylinder engine. No surprise, Ford had WRC and rally and aftermarket performance parts in mind when they built this vehicle. It meets all requirements necessary for the widest spectrum of applications. How far to take modifying your Ford Focus with performance parts is ultimately up to the budget and capabilities of the owner. Some performance parts to gain sound and performance are intake, exhaust, and tune. More advanced users will do the same plus forced induction and custom fabricated manifolds, port and polish, and more. The focus engine is very capable, check out http://www.focusfanatics.com for more information about modifying the Ford Focus!

The Ford Focus can be modified just like any other vehicle. More air and fuel equals more power, try increasing these values and check the dyno. Forced induction is a great idea for the Ford Focus. The biggest Focus motor 2.3 inline four cylinder engine is a beast when properly modified and tuned. The Focus in the video below is a great example of how much performance can be gained by adding some performance parts!
