There are several locations in Tampa Bay that do not sell gasoline mixed with ethanol. For sports car enthusiasts and others, this can be required for some highly modified vehicles. Ethanol gasoline helps increase octane but at the expense of lost potential power. This change in power is considered a new way to get extra performance out of your vehicle. If you are going to run the track, consider using ethanol free gasoline to get better times. If you are tuned for standard ethanol gasoline, adjustments may need to be made to your ECU to compensate for the different burn.

How to find ethanol free gasoline:

Finding ethanol free gasoline is simple process, but it does take time. Use the following step by step to locate ethanol free gasoline in your area.

  1. Look up gas stations in the phone book, or in Google Maps "Local business results" by searching the term "Gas stations". Optionally, you can use the gas locator widget below.
  2. Make a database of the telephone numbers of potential gasoline stations in your area.
  3. Call each one during normal operating hours and ask them if they sell ethanol free gasoline.
    • If they say no, demand they start selling it. Mark their account in your database as "Ethanol mixed gasoline" and call them weekly asking about ethanol free gasoline. Eventually, they will get the point.
  4. When you find a gas station that sells ethanol free gasoline, mark their account in your database and start buying their gasoline. Tell your friends about them and try to drive as much business to them as possible to help them stay selling ethanol free gasoline.

Normal drivers in regular cars are also complaining about ethanol's affect on gas mileage. Some users report up to 30 miles less per tank of gas, which results in buying more gasoline. Each time gasoline is cut, whether it be by detergents like "nitrogen enriched gasoline" or by other additives like ethanol, total power output is reduced and therefore more fuel is required to travel the same distance. The price of oil sky rocketed in the past 10 years, no wonder why all these magic snake oils are now surfacing. It's a way for big oil to sell you less pumped for more money. Don't buy into it.

Who else is affected by ethanol gasoline? Aircraft and boats designed to run on standard gasoline can be harmed by using the ethanol mixture. Ethanol damages hoses, gaskets, and is corrosive to aluminum and due to a lower boiling point can create vapor lock. FAA is concerned about the public's ability to correctly label mixed gasoline because use of ethanol in aircraft specifically designed for gasoline can be fatal. Small engines are also harmed by the use of ethanol mixed gasoline. People are demanding ethanol free gasoline.
