Since I started writing as the Boulder Examiner, my posts have had one simple purpose: to entice readers near and far (of all ages and interests) to find their way to Downtown Boulder by providing images of fantastic dining, shopping and playing options.  The retail & restaurant scene, the outdoor scene, and the music, art, literary & entertainment scenes are all fabulous.  The other enticing factor is that 85% of Downtown Boulder businesses are locally owned and operated.  In Downtown Boulder, we love the local!

This past weekend, Downtown Boulder Inc. hosted the 30th annual Downtown Boulder ArtFair.  Pearl Street was brimming with talented artisans and gifted musicians.  Visitors enjoyed strolling along the shaded streets with well manicured flowerbeds.  Children cooled off in the pop-jet fountain. Outdoor enthusiasts walked, biked, or simply relaxed in Central Park next to the Boulder Creek.  Events such as ArtFair happen year round and do a lot to enhance the sense of community and support of local businesses that make Downtown Boulder the heart of the city. (Up next: the Endless Summer Celebration happening August 22nd from noon to 10 p.m.)

An adventure of choice awaits locals and visitors alike seven days a week in Downtown Boulder.  So, where is the best place to get the 411 on anything and everything Downtown Boulder?   Boulderdowntown.com, of course!   The site is an information portal overflowing with useful details about Downtown Boulder.  Retail, restaurant & service listings, events listings, informative newsletters and a blog give visitors all the information they need to plan a visit.  Check out a detailed listing of Happy Hour specials.   Find out how many feet you have to walk to get from Point A to Point B.   Learn about parking information with interactive maps.  Purchase a Downtown Boulder Gift Card that it accepted at over 160 Downtown establishments.  View some great images of all there is to see and do.

Once in Downtown Boulder, the Visitor Information Center (located on the 1300 block of Pearl Street) provides complimentary maps and brochures.  Downtown Boulder Ambassadors are a wealth of information and always eager to share suggestions and recommendations with out-of-towners as well as locals.  The Ambassadors are extremely friendly and love to chat.

Admittedly, I am going to continue writing about Downtown Boulder specifically.  However, I do acknowledge that there is a lot to see and throughout the entire city.  My recommendations of sites to visit to learn more about Boulder include:

http://www.bouldercoloradousa.com/

http://www.boulderchamber.com/

Stay tuned for more posts about upcoming events as well as spotlights on business & people. Remember to visit, BoulderDowntown.com for the 411 about everything on and off the Bricks*!

*(The Bricks refers to the Pearl Street Mall between 11th and 15th Streets.)
