Turner Movie Classics (TCM) is presenting a full day of John Wayne movies on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, starting at 6:00 AM. The lineup of movies for the day of “The Duke”  includes Flying Leathernecks, The Wings of Eagles, Three Godfathers, The Alamo, McLintock!, The Horse Soldiers, The Sons of Katie Elder, True Grit, The Green Berets, Three Faces West and Baby Face.

Flying Leathernecks at 6:00 AM
Flying Leathernecks, 1951, was produced by eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes, who had an avid interest in aviation. The Cast includes John Wayne, Robert Ryan, Janis Carter, Don Taylor, John Wayne and James Bell.
The Wings of Eagles at 7:00 AM
The Wings of Eagles, 1957, is a biography of Frank ‘Spig’ Wead, a longtime friend of John Ford, the director of the film. The cast includes John Wayne as Frank “Spig’ Wead), Dan Dailey, Maureen O’Hara, Ward Bond, Ken Curtis and Edmund Lowe.
Three Godfathers at 10:00 AM
Three Godfathers, 1948, is a western by director John Ford. The cast includes John Wayne, Pedro Armendariz, Harry Carey Jr., Ward Bond and Mae Marsh. The Three Godfathers a John Wayne Western

The Alamo, 1960, was nominated for six Academy Awards. The story was of 187 Texans, including Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie, who held out in a battle against over 6,000 Mexican army troops for 13 days during the Texas Revolution. John Wayne directed and produced this historic drama. The Cast includes John Wayne, Richard Widmark, Laurence Harvey, Frankie Avalon, Linda Cristal, Chill Wills, Joseph Calleia, Ken Curtis and Denver Pyle.
McLintock! At 3:30 PM
McLintock, 1963, transposed the Shakespeare story The Taming of the Shrew to a setting in the Wild West. The Duke portrayed George Washington McLintock, self made land baron who is dissatisfied with his lot in life and the federal government. Maureen O’Hara portrays McLintock’s estranged wife. The cast includes John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara, Patrick Wayne, Stefanie Powers, Jack Kruschen, Chill Wills and Yvonne DeCarlo.
The Horse Soldiers at 5:45 PM
The Horse Soldiers, 1959, is a John Ford film about an actual event during the Civil War. The cast includes John Wayne, William Holden, Constance Towers, Judson Pratt and Hoot Gibson.
The Sons of Katie Elder at 8:00 PM
In this 1965 western  the four sons of Katie Elder return home when she dies to pay their respects, to find that their father was a drunk who gambled the family ranch away on the night he was killed.  The cast includes John Wayne (John Elder, Dean Martin (Tom Elder), Martha Hyer (Mary Gordon, Michael Anderson Jr. (Bud Elder), Earl Holliman (Matt Elder), Dennis Hopper and James Gregory.
True Grit at 10:15 PM
Wayne won an Oscar for his role of Rooster Cogburn in the 1960 film. The cast includes John Wayne, Glen Campbell, Kim Darby, Jeremy Slate and Robert Duvall.
The Green Beret at 12:30 AM
The Green Beret, 1968, is a film about the war in Vietnam directed by John Wayne. The cast includes John Wayne, David Janssen, Jim Hutton, Aldo Ray and Raymond St. Jacques.
Three Faces West at 3:00 AM
The cast of this 1940 film includes John Wayne, Sigrid Gurie, Charles Coburn, Spencer Charters, Helen MacKellar, Roland Varno, Sonny Bupp, Wade Boteler, Trevor Bardette, Russell Simpson, Charles Waldron and Wendell Niles.
Baby Face at 4:30 AM Wednesday

Baby Face, 1933, stars Barbara Stanwyck as a seductive vixen. Young John Wayne is one of the conquests. The cast includes Barbara Stanwyck, George Brent, Donald Cook, Arthur Hohl, Margaret Lindsay and John Wayne
