The HBO hit series True Blood continues its second season Sunday, July 12 (9:00-10:00 p.m.), followed by new episodes on subsequent Sundays at the same time. Based on the popular Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, this hit drama series was created by Alan Ball, creator of HBO’s Emmy®-winning series “Six Feet Under.” True Blood stars Anna Pacquin HBO TRUE BLOOD: Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer. photo: Jaimie Trueblood and Stephen Moyer.

In a backwoods Louisiana town, the mystery surrounding a serial killer had finally been solved, to the town’s infinite relief, while Sookie Stackhouse ( Anna Paquin) is thrilled that her vampire soulmate, 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton ( Stephen Moyer) came to her daylight defense. But just as things are settling down, deadly new twists threaten Sookie Stackhouse and the town of Bon Temps.

True Blood takes place in the not-too-distant future, when vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood meaning they no longer need humans for nutrition.

At the Light of Day Institute, Jason falls victim to a practical joke, but has the last laugh when the Newlins anoint him for a higher calling. Maryann throws a birthday party for Tara, attracting much of Bon Temps to its Bacchanalian revelry. Sam postpones his departure from town to attend the bash, connecting with Daphne in the process.
