Jon Gosselin vacations with girlfriend as family works through divorce

The TLC reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8 is on hiatus while Jon and Kate Gosselin work out the split of their 
marriage and pending divorce. The Gosselins shot to fame with their popular family show featuring their life with eight children, twins and sextuplets.
The Gosselins posted a statement on the TLC website that they are focusing on the needs of their family during this difficult time. However, Jon Gosselin seems to have jumped ship altogether to vacation with his new 23 year old girlfriend in St. Tropez. TV Guide has reported on Jon Gosselin and his St. Tropex vacation.

During this very difficult time we will be working to focus solely on the needs of our family. This includes no longer commenting publicly or reacting to media stories and speculation. Our goal is to do the very best for our children and that will be done as privately as possible. We appreciate the understanding, support and well wishes from so many.

Jon Gosselin has seemed to eschew the media spotlight brought upon him, but he has benefited from the wealth and fame the series brought him. If Jon Gosselin was not wealthy, thanks to the multiple births, clever marketing, Kate Gosselin and the reality TV series; he might not have a 23 year old girlfriend or a vacation in an exotic locale.
Jon & Kate Plus 8 has been transformed from a rather innocent family program about raising a large family into a tabloid drama. One wonders what the future of the show will be, as the newly single parents navigate the tricky waters of dating, relationships and child rearing. It is too bad that there are eight children in the middle of this family drama. It might be just too much reality for their core viewers.
