Actress Farrah Fawcett passed away on June 25, 2009, after a three year battle with anal cancer. Farrah Fawcett was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of a Los Angeles hospital. Her longtime love, Ryan O’Neal, and friends Mela Murphy and Alana Stewart were at her bedside when she passed on.

Farrah boldly had her treatments filmed by friend Alana Stewart, sharing with people her battle as a type of instruction for other people who have to battle the dreaded disease.
The Biography Channel aired a biography of the actress over the weekend and has a biography posted on their website.
According to the Biography channel, Farrah was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 2, 1947. She attended John J. Pershing Middle School in Houston, Texas; now a magnet program for fine arts. Within two weeks she had landed a modeling contract and had offers to star in TV commercials and print advertisements. Her plans to return to school fell by the wayside.
In Hollywood, Fawcett met actor Lee Majors, who she dated for five years before marrying, in 1973. Majors began starring in the hit TV Series The Six Million Dollar Man that same year.
In 1976, Fawcett debuted in the Aaron Spelling drama Charlie’s Angels, which also starred Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith.
The following year Fawcett posed for the now famous poster in a red bathing suit, with tousled blonde hair and big smile. The poster sold a record 12 million copies and hung on the wall of young men across the land.
Fawcett did not return for a second season of Charlie’s Angels and was sued for breech of contract by the powerful Aaron Spelling. Fawcett settle out of court and agreed to make guest appearances on the show.
Fawcett’s film career sputtered, with poorly performing films Logan’s Run (1976), Sunburn (1979) and Saturn 3 (1980).
Farrah Fawcett and Lee Majors separated in 1979 and divorced in 1982. Farrah began to date actor Ryan O’Neal. The couple had a son, Redmond, in 1985.
Fawcett finally gained recognition as a serious actress in The Burning Bed, a decidedly unglamorous role about domestic violence, made in 1984. She was nominated for an Emmy in Burning Bed, Extremities and Small Sacrifices.
Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal had longtime relationship. They split up but remained friends.
Farrah was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006. O’Neal was diagnosed with leukemia. In 2007, Farrah was declared cancer free, but later that year they found a malignant polyp. Fawcett flew to Germany for chemotherapy treatments at Frankfurt University Hospitals and alternative treatments in Bad Wiessee in Bavaria. These treatments were filmed for what turned out to be a documentary about her struggle.
When Farrah was diagnosed with cancer, Ryan O’Neal was there for her and hoped that they could marry. He had told Barbara Walters in a 20/20 interview that Fawcett had finally agreed to marry him, but she died before the wedding could take place.  
Farrah Fawcett died at the age of 62 on June 25, 2009.
