
The American Music Awards (AMA) were broadcast live on ABC on November 22, 2009. The most popular musical acts in entertainment today gathered for a glittering awards ceremony and performances by artists including 50 Cent, Black Eyed Peas, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry, Eminem, Nelly Furtado, Green Day, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson Jaya-Z, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Shikira, SOSHY, Timbaland, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban.
Fans voted online for the winners of the American Music Awards. three hour award ceremony. Taylor Swift was the big winner, picking up five of the six awards she was nominated for. Taylor Swift was not at the AMA, as she was in London, but she gave her acceptance speeches live via satellite. The late King of Pop, Michael Jackson won two posthumous awards, which were accepted by his brother Jermaine Jackson.
