
History Channel is premiering WII in HD on November 15-19, 2009. One of History Channel's most ambitious projects to day, WWII in HD is a a ten hour series, airing two hours each night. WWII in HD promises to be the most visually astonishing World War II drama/documentary ever shown on television. The series shows original, color footage, most if it never before seen. The war is viewed through the eyes of 12 Americans who fought in or contributed to the war effort. Gary Sinise (CSI:NY) will narrate the series. WWII in HD airs from 9:00 to 11:00 PT ET each night from November 15 to 19, 2009.
WWII is a ten part series that draws upon over 3,000 hours of WWII footage culled form archives and private collections around the world. The film has been restored and enhanced through HD technology, bringing to light riveting footage from sources that range from the National Archives and the Army Heritage and Education center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania to Homer Helter's Military Mall in Naples, Florida.
The story of WWII in HD is told through the experiences of 12 main characters who served during the conflict of the World War II. The stories of the 12 Americans will be told by the voices of actors. Following are the names of the 12 Americans and of the actors who will tell their stories.
The story of WWII in HD is told through the experiences of 12 main characters who served through the conflict. Viewers will learn about war reporter Robert Sherrod, Army nurse June Wandry who served from the beginning of the war in North Africa to the liberation of the camps in Germany, Shelby Westbrook of the famed Tuskegee Airmen; Jimmie Kanaya the son of Japanese immigrants; and Jack Werner a Jewish emigre who escaped from Austria and then fought against Hitler and the Nazis.
As part of History's multi-media partnership with the Library of Congress and its collection of nearly 140 million audio recordings from World War II into the series.
