Hazy sunshine and pleasant temperatures were the rule across the region today as highs reached the low 70s region-wide. These temperatures were about 10 degrees cooler than the past few days, but are around normal levels for this time of year. Lows tonight will be in the upper 40s, as increasing cloudiness will keep the overnight hours a bit warmer than the past few nights.
High pressure over the area has begun to weaken and move east as a Pacific storm system approaches the region. This system will bring some drastic changes to the weather here in the Valley over the next few days. Cloudy and breezy conditions are on tap for Thursday as a cold front looms offshore. Highs will reach the mid to upper 60s, which will be about 5 degrees cooler than today. The aforementioned cold front will push into the Valley late Thursday night, bringing a chance of showers from Sacramento northward by early Friday morning.
Scattered showers are possible Friday as the storm system moves through the area, but the heaviest rain should remain far to the north of our area. Cloudy and cool conditions will continue through Friday before the sun peeks through again on Saturday. The weekend could be a bit breezy, as winds swing around out of the north behind the departing storm system. Highs over the weekend will be mainly in the 60s, with lows dropping into the upper 30s thanks to a colder airmass moving in.
High pressure returns for next week, leading to a gradual warming trend once again.
