Sunny and pleasant was the rule weatherwise across Northern California today as high pressure nudges over us from the south. After a chilly start, temperatures warmed from the low 40s to the low 70s in most locations, tempered only by a few passing high clouds. With light winds and a dry airmass in place, lows tonight will drop into the mid 40s, so keep that extra blanket on the bed.
Fantastic trick-or-treating weather is in store for Halloween. Unlike last year, when a weak storm system brought rain to the area for Halloween night, we will see dry and pleasant conditions for the evening hours. Highs will be in the mid 70s in the afternoon, so by the time the kids are heading out the door, the temperature should be a comfortable 70 degrees. Expect temperatures to cool down through the 60s during the evening hours, finally reaching the low 50s overnight.
High pressure will stick around at least through Tuesday, so pleasant days and cool nights are expected through mid-week. The weather crystal ball becomes a bit cloudy after mid-week, with some forecast models bringing a chance of rain to the area and others keeping things dry. This forecast will keep dry weather in the area for now, but stay tuned next week for potential changes. In the past few years, we've seen a weather system move through around the first weekend in November, but right now that doesn't look to be the case for this year.
Daylight Savings Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday morning, so set your clocks back an hour before heading to bed after your trick-or-treating fun!
