The past several days have been picture-perfect in Northern California as high pressure has anchored itself over the West Coast. Highs have mainly been in the 70s throughout the area, with light winds and sunny skies. Today was the warmest day of this stretch of great weather, as the afternoon highs pushed into the 80s. Hopefully you were able to get out and enjoy these fine days, because it's about to change.
Monday will be the last pleasant day this week as a strong storm system approaches far Northern California from the Pacific. Highs on Monday will be in the 70s, with increasing winds and clouds. A strong cold front will sweep through the area on Monday night, leading to strong northwesterly winds developing by Tuesday morning. Winds will gust as high as 40 mph during the afternoon. These northerly winds will transport much colder air into the region, as highs will only reach the low 60s. These colder temperatures, coupled with strong northerly winds, will make for a very chilly day across the Valley.
Wind will decrease on Wednesday, which will allow temperatures to warm back to near 70 by Thursday. However, more unsettled weather is expected for late week into the weekend, as another storm system pushes toward our area. This storm could bring some rain showers to the Valley by Friday and Saturday. However, the biggest weather story at this time will be the wind and the drop in temperatures on Tuesday.
