Cloudy skies, light rain, and ccol temperatures made today a good day to be inside. Rain began during the morning hours in the northern Valley and spread southward through the early afternoon, dropping 0.12 inches in Sacramento before skies cleared off late in the afternoon. Temperatures regionwide were mainly in the 50s throughout the day. Some patchy fog is possible in the Valley overnight as temperatures drop into the 40s and winds become light and variable.
The weather pattern shifts from cool and showery to dry and warmer over the next several days. High pressure will build into Northern California starting on Tuesday, which will lead to northerly winds and high temperatures that will be about 10 degrees warmer than Monday. You can leave the umbrella at home on Tuesday as all precipitation will be well east of our area.
A weak weather system will pass us to the north on Wednesday, but it will have little, if any, affect on our weather. A very nice stretch of weather is expected from Wednesday through the weekend, with highs in the mid 70s to low 80s and sunny skies. It will be a great few days to get out to the local pumpkin patch, put up those Halloween decorations, or check out the Sacramento Horror Film Festival, which begins on Thursday.
The next chance of rain for Northern California comes next Monday and Tuesday as a Pacific storm system approaches. Until then, enjoy the next several days of fabulous fall weather!
