No, you are not seeing things and I have been assured that this photo has not been "re-touched". The man in the photo is really Tim Eyman, professional initiative writer and sponsor of I-1033, the latest in his string of anti-government efforts.

The photograph was taken at a press conference called by Gov. Gregoire on aerospace in Washington on Wednesday in Mukilteo. The fact that Eyman would be so wiiling to be photographed holding this "No on 1033" sign (and actually wearing a sticker bearing the same sentiment) simply indicates the lengths to which the "showman" will go to to acheive any level of publicity.

On a related note, on the same day this photo was taken, the Everett City Council voted unanimously to approve a resolution opposing passage of I-1033. According to City Councilman Paul Roberts,

"...If approved, this initiative could have devastating effects on the city's ability to provide adequate levels of public safety and other public services."

Peace,

Chad Shue

For more information on Tim Eyman and I-1033, Goldy at Horsesass.org and Andrew at the Northwest Progressive Institute have been doing some great reporting.
