Take, for example, today's screening of "Beyond Rangoon" at the Central Library. The film is a take on the August 8, 1988 uprising in Burma. The event is hosted by the Burma Action Group and there will be a discussion regarding the events following the movie.
And the library, being as awesome as it is, is offering a special $5 rate for parking down there, though I would encourage people to take the bus or ride a bike.
Given the nature of uprisings in such a hotspot of violence, I would advise parents interested in this film to not take their children, unless, that is, they're prepared to offer insight to long discussions of why revolutions happen.
The event starts at 6 pm and is scheduled to end at 8, but who knows exactly how long it will go, with a discussion and all.
